What Services Are Offered By Our Physiotherapist?

Interferential Current Therapy (IFC)

Interferential Current Therapy (IFC) is an advanced electrical stimulation modality that plays a key role in our evidence-based physiotherapy treatment protocols. Unlike traditional IFC treatments that use sticky electrode pads, our clinic utilizes vacuum/suction therapy, which has been scientifically proven to be more effective in delivering therapeutic benefits.

At Oakville Physiotherapy Clinic, IFC is often combined with heat therapy to enhance blood flow, reduce pain, and accelerate the removal of swelling from the injured area. This state-of-the-art treatment helps promote long-lasting healing beyond the duration of your visit. Most physiotherapy sessions at our Oakville clinic conclude with IFC and heat therapy, ensuring optimal recovery and pain relief.

Shockwave Therapy and Physiotherapy

Radial Shockwave Therapy is the gold standard for treating a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries at our Oakville physiotherapy clinic. With over 26 years of experience, Vinaya has developed customized shockwave therapy protocols based on the latest scientific research and evidence-based practices, ensuring optimal recovery for each patient.

This non-invasive state-of-the-art treatment utilizes an air-powered device that propels a bullet against a transmitter head up to 15 times per second. These high-energy pulses help break down scar tissue, stimulate healing, and accelerate recovery like no other modern modality.

The intensity of Shockwave Therapy can be precisely adjusted between 0.3 BAR and 5 BAR, allowing for a tailored treatment experience based on each patient’s injury type and pain tolerance. Most physiotherapy patients receive 1,200 to 1,500 pulses per session, targeting the affected area with precision.

To maximize healing and recovery, we recommend icing the treated area following a Shockwave Therapy session.

Muscle Release and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy

At our Physiotherapy Clinic , Vinaya utilizes a combination of advanced manual therapy techniques to promote healing, improve mobility, and relieve pain for our Oakville physiotherapy patients. Her expertise includes Active Release Therapy (ART), Trigger Point Therapy, and Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (IASTT)—each tailored to address different musculoskeletal conditions.

Vinaya’s comprehensive, evidence-based approach ensures that each patient receives a personalized treatment plan designed for optimal recovery and long-term results.

  • Active Release Therapy (ART): This technique involves applying targeted pressure to a tight, knotted muscle while simultaneously moving the associated joint. This process helps lengthen and shorten the muscle, effectively reducing tension and improving flexibility.

  • Trigger Point Therapy: Similar to Active Release Therapy, but without joint movement, Trigger Point Therapy involves sustained pressure on tender, tight areas to release muscle knots, reduce pain, and restore function.

  • Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy (IASTT): Commonly referred to as “scraping” at our Oakville clinic, this technique uses a specialized metal tool to gently scrape across the injured area. This method stimulates blood flow, breaks down scar tissue, and enhances tissue healing.

Personalized Physiotherapy Exercise Programs

At our Oakville Physiotherapy Clinic, nearly all patients receive customized stretches and exercises during their first visit as part of their comprehensive treatment plan. While we do not have a large gym facility on-site, Vinaya ensures that each patient receives personalized physiotherapy exercises to complete at home, maximizing their recovery and progress.

Convenient Digital Exercise Plans

To make rehabilitation more accessible, exercises are typically emailed or texted to patients. Both Vinaya and Jess take the time to demonstrate proper technique, ensuring that patients perform their stretches and exercises correctly and safely.

Ongoing Support & Exercise Progressions

As physiotherapy patients progress, their exercise programs are regularly updated to match their evolving needs. If you have any questions about your exercises, you can text our clinic anytime, and we will respond as soon as possible to provide guidance and support.
