Below is how you should go about filing a work injury claim with WSIB in Oakville.

What To Do If You’ve Suffered A Work Injury and WSIB

Tell your employer and fill out appropriate WSIB forms. Your employer should fill out WSIB FORM 7 and submit it to WSIB within 5 days of the reported injury. WSIB FORM 8 will be filled out by a medical practitioner (Chiropractor, PT, Medical Doctor). The patient with the work place injury should be completing a WSIB FORM 6 either at work or upon initial visit at a medical clinic. If you come to our Oakville WSIB clinic for treatment, we will help you with all forms needed for WSIB.

Seek treatment immediately. If you have to leave work early due to pain call 905-827-4197 and book an initial assessment and treatment with our Oakville WSIB chiropractor. The sooner you get in to see us, the sooner WSIB will approve your claim and the sooner you will heal.

If you need time off of work due to pain from your work injury, Nottinghill Family Wellness Centre can take care of this. Once approved from WSIB, if our chiropractor recommends time off from work, you should be compensated and proper documentation will be noted.

Light duties, modified duties, restricted hours and modified hours are just some of the options our Oakville WSIB clinic have to help you get back on your feet faster.

Call WSIB within 48 hours of your initial work injury, after you have informed your employer of the incident. This promotes a quicker response from WSIB and once again helps get your claim in queue. The WSIB general line can be reached at 1-800-387-0750.

Get treatment: Once the WSIB claim is approved and you get back to regular duties you are still entitled to treatment from our Oakville chiropractor or other medical professional. Depending on which area is injured, you can be pre-authorized for up to 12 weeks of treatment.

If you hurt your lower back in a work injury, tell your employer, and fill out the necessary forms in order to get treatment from a chiropractor or other medical professional within 24 hours. Legally, even if WSIB does not approve your claim you are entitled to treatment for 4 weeks, with no out-of-pocket expense to you.

What’s Included in a WSIB Treatment Visit

Our Oakville WSIB treatment team uses a combination of treatment styles after a diagnosis has been determined. Whether its carpal tunnel or low back pain Dr. Steve Knighton will get a diagnosis and a treatment plan developed specifically for your injury on your first visit.

Treatment can vary from rehabilitation work to chiropractic treatment. Most patients will get a session of Suction IFC and heat to loosen up the injured tissue and get a ton of blood flow to the area. This helps promote healing and removes any inflammation or stagnant

In most cases patients will receive Shockwave Therapy to the injured area. Shockwave Therapy is a pneumatic gun that hits a bullet against a transmitter head at 12 times a second for up to 1500 hits. Shockwave is the gold standard for most chronic conditions. Dr. Steve is one of a handful of practitioners in Ontario who perform Shockwave Therapy on WSIB patients.

Depending on your injury the patient will than get a chiropractic adjustment or a session of Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Therapy. Most WSIB injuries are treated 2 x a week for 4 weeks.
