1. How Does Chiropractic Work?

2. What does a chiropractor do?
Chiropractors use spinal adjustment protocols along with modern modalities such as shockwave therapy, Active Release Therapy, IFC and exercises to help patients heal.

4. Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
Yes! A study conducted by the government of New Zealand found that adjustments are “remarkably safe”, approximately 100 times safer than taking an over-the-counter pain reliever. To rule out any type of complication, a thorough history and exam are performed and techniques are custom tailored for each individual.

5. What is a chiropractic adjustment?
An adjustment is when the chiropractor adjusts (moves) a spinel segment. This could be from the top of the neck to the very low back.

6. What type of treatment do chiropractors offer?
Most chiropractors will treat with spinal manipulation and adjustments. More modern chiropractors may use a combination of acupuncture, IFC, shockwave therapy, active release therapy, Graston and exercise prescriptions.

7. How long until I feel better after a chiropractic treatment?
Most patients will feel better within the first 2 to 4 treatments. More chronic injuries take longer to heal. Patients who are not substantially better after 12 to 16 chiropractic visits.

8. How long will I need chiropractic treatment for?
How long you receive care depends on your individual health goals. Some people merely want pain relief, while others are looking to discover new levels of health. Most patients opt for a maintenance or once a month treatment plan to prevent long term computer use injuries.

9. Do chiropractors treat children?
Yes, chiropractors can treat any age individual, from newborn’s to senior citizens.

10. What is included in a chiropractic treatment plan?
Your chiropractor will give you a game plan and a time line to reach your goals. This will include what type of treatment you will be getting and how often you need to get the treatment. In most cases you will also get some at home work to do like icing and exercises.

11. Do I need a referral from a medical doctor to see a chiropractor?
No, you do not need a MD referral to get chiropractic treatment. In very rare instances you might need a MD note to get your treatment covered by your insurance.

12. Can a chiropractor directly bill my insurance in Ontario?
Yes, if your insurance plan allows for direct billing your chiropractor can bill the insurance company directly.

13. Do chiropractors adjust on the first visit?
Yes, in most cases our chiropractors will adjust the patient on the first visit.

14. Do chiropractors only adjust backs?
No, chiropractors can treat almost all parts of the body. From ankle to jaw pain, chiropractors treat more than just the spine.

15. Can a chiropractor request an MRI or ultrasound in Ontario?
No, unfortunately chiropractors in Toronto and Ontario can not directly request an MRI or ultrasound.

16. Is your chiropractic clinic open weekends?
Yes, Dr. Steve works 50 Saturdays of the year from 7am to 11:30am. He books up fast, so if you need a Saturday appointment call now!

17. Does your chiropractor work Saturdays in Oakville?
Yes, Dr. Steve is treats patients from 7am to 1130am almost every Saturday of the year.

18. Will I be treated on my first chiropractic visit?
Yes, at our Oakville clinic you will be diagnosed and treated on your first visit. In most cases patients will be given a game plan and treatment protocol on the the first visit too.
